I researched bookshelf speakers for two months. I wanted a speaker that would fill the room with clean, rich sound for all types of music, especially jazz, classical, bluegrass, and rock. I bought these speakers as a replacement for some weak 2.1 cyber acoustics.. I already have a HP laptop, so I said what the hell, why not try these HP speakers to go along with it. I was pretty much sold from the reviews on HP's website. So I went ahead and bought them for about $50.00 with free shipping from another site. When they arrived I 1st hooked them up to my mp3 player to see how loud they were compared to the acoustics and wow it was loud. Even louder with my laptop. I listen to pretty much every genre of music and these boys perform well for each one. The clear sound they put out along with the thumping bass is truly exceptional. The size of the satellite speakers are just right. The length of the cords are pretty generous. Most people had problems with the remote and I can see why if you use the lil' thing on a all the time. I only use it to change the level of bass. I just turn the volume knob all the way up on the remote and control the volume from my laptop or my laptops wireless remote. So the knob isn't too much of a bother, for me at at least. So for this customer there are no cons. Listening to these speakers as I write this review I'm so glad I made this purchase. Product was very easy to install. I am using it with an old MacBook G4 Apple laptop in the kitchen, with our own music, to feed Hi-Fi audio to Lanai in our Pool/Dining area. Amplifier is sufficient to feed two small speakers I had from an old SONY TV (Model had separate speakers). The distance covered is 45ft (about 15 meters) and there is no problem with fidelity and signal interruptions. System works great, I highly recommend it. The main consideration in the installation of the system was the power supplies for the transmitter and receiver, due to the fact they need DC (transformer boxes are difficult to hide). As the Lanai/pool are facing west, installation is sort of outdoors, but away from direct sun and rain. I hope that Florida weather will not shorten speaker/audio Amp life. Using velcro, audio and power cable hooks, installation became very clean and unobtrusive.
Overall we are very satisfied with the sound quality and the use of the product. Parts of the extra power cables supplied for different AC connectors (England and other European countries), were used to properly find the right AC plug. I was very nervous about ordering speakers that I had never heard before, and also there were no other reviews that I could find. And, I ordered all the decor speaker covers so I was hoping everything would sound okay.

Well, to my relief, the speakers sound fantastic!! As a matter of fact, they sound MUCH clearer, cleaner, and warmer than the Klipsch bookshelf speakers they replaced! They also are much louder from the same amp, so I guess they are more efficient. By the way my amp is not that great so I was so glad these sound so good from even an average amp.

The subwoofer is plenty powerful, I live in a condo so I have not cranked it all the way up, but I have it at about 1/4 volume and it fills out the low end completely and booms when needed. It has a frequency control and also a volume control which is nice.

The satellites seem to be very high quality. They are made of metal and pretty heavy. I almost knew when I took the first one out of the box that it would sound good because it felt so solid. And luckily, it did. I really like how they are very clean in the high end, so I can now hear the dialogue in movies without having to turn up the stereo so high.

I have only watched movies so far, but anything from Star Wars to Drama to Music Videos sound awesome. I especially like the concerts on my satellite TV, they sound great in the 5.1 surround.

Very satisfied with this purchase, and my friends, especially women are really amazed at the decor covers and how they hide the surround system. Plus if I ever get robbed I don't think they'll even realize I have a stereo..

this product sucks. it interferes with my wireless internet signal, so once plugged into the CPU, internet becomes slow. Plugging your ipod to it is not wireless either. You have to plug the receiver into a USB (your computer), then mini-to-mini to your ipod, from the receiver, so you don't get true portability, which defeats the purpose of buying it in the first place. bought these with a yamaha 465 reciever from worst buy. the first set had 1 speaker that was messed up, it would send my reciever into protection mode when the volume was kranked up. i took that set bake to worst buy and exchanged it. no problems now. it was totally worth it as the sound for movies is perfect.

the room i put them is is 15x18 mounted all of the speakers on the wall with the adjustable mounts that come with it. the black matches my lg tv perfect and will probably match most tvs out there. you will need to buy speaker wire and a sub woofer cable (please don't buy monster cable it's to expensive and lower quality than what you can find for the same if not cheaper do some research on wire and cables) also some sort of screws to mount the sattelite speakers (if thats what you want to do) i went and got drywall anchors from lowes.
The satelite speakers are small enough to blend in but not so small that you don't notice them. the sub woofer is mate black and quite a bit larger you will ned to leave some space somwhere fo it but it doesnt look bad sitting next to a tv stand. the sub has rubber feet in it that are about an inch and a half tall and the woofer cone is exposed on the under side so it would probably be bad to locate it on long or deep carpet.

the sound is very balanced, not to bright or to warm. it is also very clear just as good or better than the bose systems they sell at worst buy for twice as much. with the blue ray hd sound you hear everything in the movie(one of our friends came over and in a rainy scene she asked if it had started raining outside). this stuff handle as loud of sound as i can handle; my girlfriend actually came home while i was watching transformers and told me it was loud in the driveway. it also plays music very well but the sub woofer has a little trouble keeping up with some of the metal i listen to when its kranked ( you can still hear all the guitar parts clearer than most other sound systems though.

i would recomend spending a little extra time and money buying this over most htib sistems as you can usually get these speakers and an excelent reciever in a package for under 800 bucks. there are higher quality speakers out there but these are as good as it gets for the price.

These speakers rock. They match perfect with my Mythos ones front left and right speakers and my Mythos eight center. I use them as surrounds. Love the mounting hardware that comes with the speakers. Buy Polk Audio Monitor Series CS2 Center Channel Speaker (Single, Black)

I got this cs2 to go with 2 polk audio monitor 70's in a home theater setup. Before this I had a yamaha center that was less powerful, but sounded good.

First off, like others have mentioned, the speaker is HUGE. It is worth mentioning again. Take your idea of a large center speaker and then multiply it a few times. Seriously. It actually seems thicker than the floor standing polk 70's. You must check measurements and make sure you have extra clearance in your home theater setup to accommodate. You will need about 8 - 10 inches height in a shelf to be safe, and quite a bit of depth. Trust me on this one and check the size. I had an IKEA benno tv stand with what appeared to be a pretty large shelf and never dreamed a center speaker would be too big for it. It was just 1/2 inch too short. I finally purchased a Z-line Balboa Park TV stand from Target for a decent price just to fit this speaker. Once you set it up, it actually looks pretty good and discrete with the grille.

It sounds silly to spend extra money just to accommodate a center speaker, but I really feel it was worth it. The sound experience watching blurays and playing ps3 games in 5.1 is really amazing. The sound is huge and clear, even at lower volumes. If the speaker is not at ear level, you can place it upside down so the speaker points up at you. This is part of the design of the speaker, and it works incredibly well. Dialogue sounds just like in the theater, and in some cases even better. Amazingly crisp and full of depth. Make sure the front of your center speaker is in line the with front of the front channel speakers and the tv for the best sound.

I'm sure many struggle with the eternal battle of increasing and decreasing volume while watching 5.1 content to hear dialogue vs. loud action scenes. I think this speaker really helps in this regard, simply due to the richness of sound and clarity. I could really hear the difference, because before I got the new tv stand, I went back to the old yamaha after already testing the cs2 -- like night and day. However, nothing will eliminate it completely if you are worried about loud volumes. I realized this the other day watching Harry Potter 6 in the theater. Dialogue in theaters really is much much softer than loud action scenes -- the sound is deliberately mastered that way and the same soundtracks end up on blurays. The CS2 really does, in my opinion, a faithful reproduction that sounds amazing. You will see definitely the benefit vs. smaller center speakers though.

I can't speak to cs2 vs cs1, but these days you can find it online for only a little more than cs1 and from what I have read, it is worth it. If you have monitor 70's, it is definitely worth it, since cs2 is meant to match the same tonal timbre as the monitor 70's. If taken care of well, speakers last for years and years, so the extra $30 or so is not bad.

When I upgraded to a flat panel TV, I went all out: a 58" Plasma from Samsung. I'd never owned a Center Channel before, but I figured now is the time.

But unfortunately, the only logical place to put the center was going to be in front of the TV: the Sony I'd purchased was just exactly half an inch too high, blocking the screen! What to do?
