This is an awesome speaker as a whole. It serves as my center channel directly below my 50" Panasonic plasma. The sound quality is very good. Installation was easy if you are technically inclined. This speaker was a bit longer than other LCR speakers I looked at in this price range. I decided to go with it partially for that reason (so it wouldn't look so small under the tv). I hand painted the trim in less than 10" with a brush. The grill took two coats with a home depot handheld sprayer (cartridge type, $10). The paint was diluted with water at least 10 fold. If a whole fills with paint simply blow on it to pop it out. The speaker is visible, but blends right into the wall. This is actually a very good speaker. The width is actually 50+cm, way more than incorrectly stated on amazon. It delivers an excellent sound, base is powerful, it's kingly on my rack. Had to order it from the US and paid a hefty delivery price since I could not find one on the UK market, but I am satisfied. It's worth every dime out of my cash trapped pocket. Highly recommended.

It seems like the first step to be an audiophile is to criticize Bose. I got lost on that path a little bit. I spent six months going around to listen to many others speakers (included Polk and Klipsch). Of course, I heard some decent speakers that sound better than Bose, but they usually cost at least $3,000 each. But, for the similar price range Bose is hard to be beaten. I decided to buy it because it always make me smile our of my poker face at Bose showroom (not because of the funny sale guy).

I decided to adopt a set of AM6. People at the store told me that I may have to wait for 45 days. I think, that's OK. But, I can't live without some nice music for 45 days. Then, I placed my order for the AM6 and also brought home a pair of an inexpensive Bose 161. The 161 alone sounds very OK for music. Anyway, my receiver is Onkyo TX-SR605S. And my audio sort is the Mac mini optically connected to the Onkyo receiver. I could make my neighbors dance with this set. However, the 161 alone is no good for movies.

45 days later, I got the AM6. So, the pair 161 are now the back surround speakers. With the AM6, I got a 7.1 system. The first Onkyo automatic setup was great for the movies the floor and the walls were shaking. for some reasons, the floor and the walls were still shaking for music too. That is a little too much for me. The bass wasn't like a strong punch. It was more like a really annoying subwoofer effect from the next room. I was a bit disappointed. However, a month later when I was playing around with the Onkyo remote control, I found that the Onkyo set volume level of subwoofer to -3. I manually changed it to +3. Now, it is a lot better for music. It does sound like what I heard in Bose showroom. The movie sound effect is still cool. I think, the reason that make Onkyo receiver set the volume level very low for Bose speakers, because Bose bass module is not exactly a subwoofer. It also produces some midrange sound, which could mess up Onkyo automatic speakers calibration. One more good thing that I like about the AM6 is, speaker cables are included. I don't have to worry about what cabel should I use or how much do I have to pay more. But please note that, the center speaker of AM6 is identical with the satellite speakers. I bought these when I re-did my home 7.1 theater system. I have a pair of these, 2 pair of the larger RM8 for front and side, and the center channel. I like the sub/sat types of systems as I don't loose any floor space using towers. As long as you get a stellar sub, these work amazingly well. The dispersion is fantastic, completely fills our large living room with sound. Cheapest Yamaha YSP-3000BL Digital Sound Projector (Black)

I am still playing with many of the features but already there are some oddities that may give buyers pause.

Tuning FM stations and setting preset is done oddly from the supplied remote. I cannot even begin to describe it. It is not at all intuitive.

The remote allows you to control a TV and another AV device but is very limited. For example, changing the input source on my Samsung LCD TV requires selecting enter after you scroll through a list of sources. The TV controls provided on the remote include only a few TV control buttons, none which are enter or select, so I can bring up and scroll through the source list but I cannot close it. I am still switching between remotes. This is of course a mix of Samsung and Yamaha oddities.

There is no system connection terminal port to support the YST-FSW050 subwoofer being promotionally offered with the YSP-3000. There is no system control port at all. Odd with the YSP-3000 acting an AV receiver substitute.

The height is just a bit too high for placing it on the same surface with many LCD televisions. I know the technology may be the limiter, but there could have been some effort to shorten the height to accomodate most of the televisions being sold.

All the connections except the HDMI connections face down. The gap provided for connectors is not always ideal. I have had to substitute my Monster Toslink cables with more generic cables because the terminator on the Monster cables are too long to fit underneath. I could see other cable terminations suffering a similar limit.

They provided a stick-on cable clip but no suggestions on best placement. I put mine in a spot I thought ideal and discovered after it would have been better rotated 90 degrees. Unfortunately the tack on the stick-on is so high, I cannot even attempt to remove it without tools.

Although when you first open the box the receiver and transmitter look cheap, they perform remarkably well. In fact, the RCA connect cables they include in the box look like something out of a cheap throwaway DVD player box. I would have rather used a hard line to my powered MK subwoofer but I had to please the wifey. Anyway, after reading the reviews here I gave it a shot. My subwoofer sits next to my couch about 12 feet from the receiver. I hid the transmitter and receiver behind the surround receiver and subwoofer and you can't even see them. I adjusted and instructed and played a DVD. Wow! I can't tell the difference. I use newer Panasonic DECT 6.0 cordless phones so it doesn't interfere. Also, wifi is on 2.4ghz so it doesn't seem to be affected either. I haven't used the microwave yet but that should be an easy workaround since I usually don't watch movies and use the microwave at the same time. This product is great for the specific purpose of transmitting lower frequencies. Of course, this all works only with a good powered (amplfied) subwoofer.

I don't notice any hum or lower frequency sounds. If the receiver is plugged into the subwoofer without the transmitter plugged in, I get the hum. This behavior should be normal since it is pickup any ambient noise. Once the transmitter is plugged in there is no noise at all.
